"Amazed at the claim no one has ..."

About: Royal Hospital Haslar

(as a relative),

What could be improved: Amazed at the claim no one has been wating more than 26 weeks for surgery.

My husband was added to waiting list for hip replacement in December 2004 and is still waiting for surgery now October 2007

Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust replies: It is very difficult for us to comment on individual cases without having the full details of the patient. However we can confirm that no patient is waiting more than 26 weeks (indeed, no patient is waiting more than 20 weeks at Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust)for surgery unless there are specific issues. It is possible that a patient may be unfit for surgery or has other medical problems needing to be resolved before surgery can be carried out. May we invite Jill, who has posted this comment, to contact the Trust's Complaints Department if she would like us to investigate further. The Complaints Department can be contacted at the Education Centre, St Mary's Hospital, Milton Road, Portsmouth PO3 6AD. Telephone: 023 92286000 ext 2422.
