Anything else?
Have you ever heard of a ward running out of painkilling drugs? a ward that couldn't borrow from another dept because "they already owed them too much" well welcome to Queens Hospital. Last night at 10pm I was released with pain relief for 12 hours - I was due back at the hospital at 10.20am..... by 3pm I was climbing the walls with pain (the scan that I was told was booked for 10.20am never emerged. At 1pm a porter took 5 patients down to the scan dept at a furious pace..between pain and blood pressure I almost passed out - a passing assistant got me a chair. The scan dept almost refused to scan us..in fact afterwards all scans for general surgery were cancelled at 3pm. I eventually returned to ward, but scan dept refused to send up results until they had done all five - apparently payback for getting so many according to staff! I was begging for pain relief and was then told they got none...but if i come back at 7pm or 8pm I can have some. I have a gallbladder that needs removing, but they may want MRI - however it a minimum 6 week wait.....and meanwhile what am I supposed to do? Do they care? No. The hospital is dirty..very and staff are only concerned with scoring points against some other department. Patient care? They don't know the meaning.
Absolutely horrified
