Anything else?
During these difficult times of cuts and continual financial restraints on public services I felt compelled to feed back on the meticulous service I received yesterday during, what I thought was going to be, a routine medical procedure. My smooth transition from A & E to ENT was the start of an extremely unexpected, but observational journey for me. I arrived in ENT to an obviously packed out surgery. The waiting time was going to be lengthy and so I sat and waited for well over the waiting time stated on the whiteboard. However, steadily everyone was seen until I was the only one left. ENT staff were marvellous, courteous and studious in their attempts to remove the fish bone in my throat. Unable to do so, I was swiftly sent for Xray and subsequent decision was to theatre. By the time I was admitted to the surgical day ward I felt I had been unexpectedly through many medical departments and reflected (whilst I was recovering late in the day) on the outstanding service I had received. It was apparent that no matter how busy, or the medical conditions that have to be dealt with the many staff I came into contact with were an absolute credit to Darlington Memorial Hospital and it is certainly the staff that made my experience a very positive one. They were helpful, concise, attentive and caring, accolades worthy of the care service provision, but I wonder how many people in other counties receive them as I did yesterday. Thank you.
"Reassuring experience"
