"Most Nurses Don't Care Anymore"

About: University Hospital Aintree

Anything else?

I say most, as some do care. But the majority have little interest in the patient as a person. My father was at one point left waiting to see a doctor, without being offered food, drink or even slippers for his cold feet!

On another ward, he was given something called a "flip flow" (I think), without being accessed if he could manage it himself. (He couldn't). He has poor mobility in his hands, and nobody noticed this. Again on this ward he was left sitting, with bare legs and no slippers. I had to ask for a blanket to cover his legs. We eventually managed to buy him some slippers (he didn't own a pair).

Also after soiling himself one night his dirty pjs had been put in a plastic bag in his locker ! Only to be discovered by my mother 2 days later ! Why weren't they taken away and either cleaned or burned, why weren't we informed that they were there (if we were meant to take them away). My mother mentioned to the nurse that maybe the locker would need a thorough cleaning, the nurse said "I suppose it does ". ! I could go on and on. But the main point I want to get across is that the nurses do not really care about people anymore. It is just a job. Avoid going into this hospital if at all possible, I know you don't have much choice. Think about taking out private health insurance. Its got me thinking thats for sure.

We're very sorry to hear details of your father's experience, which is certainly not what we would expect our hospital to offer patients. We'd like to look into this further for you, but we'll need more details - could you please contact our Customer Services team at complaints@aintree.nhs.uk or call them directly on 0151 529 3287
