What I liked
My mother was treated swiftly and kindly. She is 85 and had a serious heart condition. Her pacemaker was fitted and within 5 days she had been transferred to a hospital more local to her home.
The staff on Clarke Ward are amazing............they worked a miracle!
What could be improved
The car parking charges are very high, particularly if you are visiting every day. The machine does not give change, and the lighting is so poor at night that you have difficulty finding the right money anyway.
On transfer, we were informed by medical staff that my mother was being moved to Kingfisher ward. NO-ONE mentioned that this was in ANDOVER! The same message was given by phone to my sister who also assumed she was being transferred within the hospital at Winchester. As a result I wasted a lot of time AND the money I had put in the parking machine. The same thing happened to an elderly friend who made a wasted journey FROM Andover and then had to go straight back in the dark.
PLEASE IMPROVE COMMUNICATION. This caused a lot of unnecessary stress to us and the patient.
