"Throat cancer - Rotherham Hospital the very best"

Being in a 'scary' place having been diagnosed with throat cancer, I really had to put my life in the hands of professionals.

Rotherham Hospital was without doubt the very best! Everything was done with speed and care - I really struggled with the fact I have to have a peg inserted and was very frightened - I was hoping to go to 'sleep' to have the procedure and panicked when I wasn't! I found this to be quite traumatic - I was shown by once by a hurried young nurse how to put the syringe in and pump (just a few moments). I would have liked several goes at it with a professional present and I did get in a tangle with it later that day at home (they had left me with a bag attached. )

I didn't know or realise this should not be there - rang the Hospital and was verbally told this. Peg nurses were then sent every few weeks. I have lost a total of 4 stones and still have the peg (losing weight every month). I am in unit for dietician to help me.
