About: Royal Hampshire County Hospital

(as a relative),

What could be improved

Access for disabled people is dreadful - I've just telephoned the hospital to try to arrange a wheelchair for my disabled 84 year old Mum to get from the front door to the Cardiac Measurement Department. The person who answered the phone could not tell me if this was possible, was unable to connect me to the reception, or the Cardiac Measurement Dept. So I shall be arriving at the hospital not knowing whether or not a wheelchair will be available.

There was a similar access problem when she had to go to the MRI CT Scan unit - when she came out the reception was in darkness, there was no wheel chair available she couldn't walk along the ramp it was too far ended up scrabbling over the grass verge to my car which was double parked in the pouring rain with a deluge of water pouring down the car park. Why on earth is there not a proper pick up and drop off point and why don't the staff know what advise to give.
