"Disappointment at aggressive reception staff"

About: Homerton University Hospital

Anything else?

I'm in a tricky situation where I need a prescription for the contraceptive pill, but I can't get an appointment with my doctor for another three weeks.

I phoned Homerton Hospital to see whether I could come to the drop-in centre and approximately how long this would take e.g. a half day or if it's usually shorter.

The staff member was extremely rude and insulting. He refused to answer (I understand that precise times can't be given) and told me "if it's something you really need then you'll just wait, otherwise it's clearly not an emergency".

I was hoping this would be a source of information so I could go to the most appropriate place for getting a prescription, rather than clogging up emergency queues or going to the wrong place. Instead I was insulted and had it implied that I was wanting my needs put ahead of emergency patients. I'm not sure why the hostility was so forthcoming, and the information so vague.

Just the phone call is enough to make me not want to go to the hospital. I've since researched other options online and will try to ask a pharmacist to give me an emergency supply of the medication.
