"Bad service of care A"

About: Royal Berkshire Hospital

Anything else?

My first vist to A E for a few year, standard has dropped badly, AE area reduced to small area, staff over worked care level critical, I have lived in Reading all my life this hospital and Nhs has dropped care standards what is going on! My husband passed out hit his head needed checking out, blood pressure sky high, told sit on chair ,5 hours later seen by doctor. Go see your GP in a few days they can check you out better. What! ECG done on creased bed sheets, infection well no wonder! the hospital keeps coming down with so many infections, what a surprise with the neglect in hygiene, care and appalling conditions in AE department. Hope I never have to vist this department again.

Our sincere apologies for your experience in the Emergency department, we take your comments very seriously so should you wish to discuss this further please do contact us directly.

As a department / hospital we are currently under immense pressure to manage the volume of patients attending the Emergency Department and we are experiencing issues around the management of capacity in the unit. This is being addressed by the Trust and we are currently working on plans to increase the size of the unit so that we can manage patient flow more efficiently and ensure patients receive a positive experience.

We are sorry that on this occasion we have let you down but please be reassured that we strive to and usually do deliver excellent service.
