"The hospital it self is rather ..."

About: Torbay Hospital

(as a relative),

What I liked

The hospital it self is rather nice and the staff seem quite pleasent.

What could be improved

The care could be better and the lifts were very poor all the writing was scratched off me and my brother-in-law and my sister and my niece went up and down to find the main entrance as the writing was so poor on the lifts.

The anoying thing was my poor old nan had to wait 5 hours for an ambulance which it thought was very bad.

We are pleased to say that £800,000 is about to be spent on renewing lifts in the hospital. The parts are already on order and the installation is due to start in August.

You don't say if the ambulance was to bring your Nan to hospital or to take her home or to another hospital. The emergency ambulance service is not run by the hospital, so we cannot comment on that. Unusually for a hospital, though, we do run a fleet of patient transport vehicles and a hospital car service for non-urgent transfers and to help people who have no need for an ambulance but who don't drive, can't get a lift or can't use public transport.

We do hope you found us to be a friendly hospital.
