"a & e"

About: Royal Lancaster Infirmary

Anything else?

I had very severe left side pain and called nhs direct,i was treated by them in a friendly telephone manner, they arranged a ambulance for me,i was taken to a&e,put on a drip and went for an xray, and given pain relief, the doctor came to me and said i was constipated even though i never have problems in that department, that made me feel i wasted their time and the ambulance crews time,i was extremely embarrased so did not disagree as i thought doctors are supposed to be right,so went home still in pain, and in tears, with some stronger painkillers,i spent another week in bad pain then i was informed by my gp that the x ray showed at least 2 kidney stones,in total i was in pain for a month and eventually had a ct scan.it was my first visit to a & e,if it ever happens again i would like to be scanned while i am in the hospital and not 10 weeks after the event.

Many thanks for taking the time and trouble to give us this feedback, which we were very concerned to read. We have passed them onto the team concerned, and would like to investigate further. We would therefore like to investigate further the issues you have raised but to do so, we would need some further details, and we'd be grateful if you would contact our customer care team on 01539 795 497 as soon as possible to allow us to do that.
