"Appalling behaviour by some staff"

About: Dewsbury & District Hospital

Anything else?

Everytime I visit the hospital I am always treated rudely even though I am polite towards the staff members. Not all staff members are rude and to be fair some of them are quite nice. However everytime I go to one of the desks I am always greeted with poor manners. The staff members at the desk do not even bother to smile and give very short answers. They are not polite at all and it has actually reached a point where I am afraid of going to this hospital even if it was an emergency because of the lack of manners some of these staff members have and they make me feel so uncomfortable with their rudeness. Once I was told by one of the nurses in A&E that because of people like me there are big queues of people wasting time only to find out that if I hadn't taken my sister to A&E she could have died. All I ask for is a bit of respect. Yes it is a very stressful job and I can appreciate that, But do your jobs properly. It doesnt take much effort to be polite. I am tired of being treated this way and I want to see a change. I hate going to this hospital I only go because I have to. I probably won't go anymore even if there is a real emergency because of how rude some of the staff are. There is also a lack of communication between staff members. A lot of the time I do not even know whats going on and am just left to sit there for hours until someone comes. Not even a "someone will be with you shortly." Nothing at all! I hope something is done about this because it is disgusting.

We would agree entirely that there is never an excuse for rudeness. We would be pleased to arrange to investigate specific instances of concern if the patient would like to contact us with details. The email address is pals@midyorks.nhs.uk
