"Utterly clueless"

About: Queen Alexandra Hospital

Anything else?

I went into A&E with suspected appendicitis. Gave my details to the lady at the desk, who told me I wasn't ill enough to be in A&E, that I to go to out of hours. I then had to move to the person next to her and repeat all my details despite feeling very dizzy. The lady on the out of hours desk was rude and kept asking me to speak up. I passed out at the desk whilst talking and was sat in a seat by my stepdad. I then threw up all over the floor. I was given no assistance, only the rude assistant who came over and said you haven't finished checking in. My stepdad had to get tissue from the toilets to clear me and the floor up, then drive me round to the out of hours clinic as I was unable to walk that far. I was seen by out of hours who couldn't understand why A&E turned me away. I was admitted to the surgical assessment ward for bloods. They took my blood and told me at 1am that I would have my appendix removed the following day. In the morning the doctors came round and said I would be taken off nil by mouth given food and sent home. I said I was told I was going into surgery, they said that was a mistake. They then realised they had given me a huge injection of antibiotics so I had to go into surgery. I was taken down, my appendix removed and a burst ovarian cyst cleared up. Told I could go home if I ate food, then told I wasn't going home till the morning, despite me forcing myself to eat. The next morning I was told I was going home so they didn't change my bed. No doctor came to see, no one could tell me when I was going, I was just left all day not having a clue what was going on. It came to that evening I was randomly moved ward, despite me being told I would go home in the evening. Finally went home the next day, having asked to have one of the two lines into my wrist removed, because I had been completely forgotten. Also had to remind the blood nurse that they wanted to test my blood for infection before I went. Utterly horrid experience. My stepdad emailed in to complain and got no response. Would never go here again, would drive further if need be.
