"Mayday"

About: Croydon University Hospital

Anything else?

Room not cleaned for 4 days, bin over flowing. Mother left in wet clothing for 3 1/2 hours even after asking night staff for help. An ulsar undetected for a month even though during that month Mother had hardly eatten, not 1 full meal. This went undetected even after it was pointed out on numerous occassions. Recieved phone call at 7am reporting Mother was found 'on the floor asleep', what was ment to be said was ' she was asleep in a chair on the floor' (showing the grasp of the English language the night staff seem to have.

On previous occassion was told by doctor Mother was fine to come home (even though she was gasping for breath. Next day 2 doctors said 'there was no way she was well enough to be discharged, hense a futher 10 day stay.

In my eyes the hospital needs to concerntrate more on the care of the patients and less on the beauraceats salaries. Get staff who care and can understand the English language. It doesn't supprise me the hospital has such a dire reputation, i've seen it first hand.

We are so sorry that your mother’s care fell so short of the standards we set. If your mother is still on the ward and you are visiting please ask to speak the senior nurse in charge at that time – or ask them to bleep the matron who will come to see you.

If you would rather not do this, or your mother has now left our hospital, please contact the PALS team and tell them which ward this was so they can share your comments with team (anonymously if you like) so they are aware of the problems you had.

You can call them on 020 8401 3210 or email TalkToUs@croydonhealth.nhs.uk
