Following chest pains at home I was very impressed by the prompt arrival of an ambulance (East of England Ambulance Service). My main reason for writing this review though is to comment on the excellent teamwork during the treatment which followed commencing with the arrival of the ambulance and was completed within just over an hour in the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital. Immediately after initial diagnosis, the ambulance crew started tests and were able to share their results by phone and fax with NNUH. This teamwork continued whilst I was taken to NNUH. This resulted in a team waiting to meet me on the unloading bay so that diagnosis, care and treatment appeared as a continuum until I found myself very quickly in the recovery room having had two stents inserted.
I have no medical competence but was very impressed by the excellent team working which showed itself through explanation of the treatment, care and compassion of all involved throughout from ambulance crew to ward staff (including SERCO people who cleaned and served food)
The initial follow-up visit to NNUH has also been a good experience with lots of advice from nursing and dietetic staff.
A potentially frightening experience was turned into an opportunity to live a healthier life!
