"Gastric Bypass"

About: The Whittington Hospital

Anything else?

I have been waiting since Jan 2012 for my Gastric Bypass surgery. I completed all my tests in November 2012 and was transferred over to The Whittington Hospital straight away. That was 21 weeks ago, i have still not heard a word from anyone regarding my operation, even after my previous hospital called and emailed and i was assured i would receive a letter that week....! Well that was 7 weeks ago and still nothing.

In the last 6 weeks, my previous Doctor's asst has attempted to contact The Whittington regarding my surgery but no calls or emails have been answered. I contacted PALS and was told my email would be forwarded to the relevant Department but still nothing....... Having this surgery was a massive decision for me and my family but we felt due to my health problems were left with no choice. I feel this is totally unacceptable treatment by The Whittington.

I was so sorry to hear about your experience; both in terms of the lack of contact from the Bariatric Department and also that your call to PALS did not resolve the issue. As a result of you writing on the website we reviewed our PALS cases and think we have identified your case. If we have identified this correctly, one of the Bariatric Coordinators contacted you today explaining the mistake that was made and inviting you to attend the hospital for an appointment. If you did not hear from the department, please do contact me on 020 7288 3113 (you will likely need to leave a message and I will call you back) or by email at cassie.williams@nhs.net and I will endeavour to resolve this situation for you as soon as possible. I am so sorry for the inconvenience caused.

Yours sincerely

Cassie Williams
