Anything else?
My wife came in for an EBUS procedure yesterday full of nerves wondering what it would be like to have a camera down her throat. Was she going to gag or cough? It was all the unknown that made her nervous never having had this procedure before. I can say that it was nothing like this at all. The care of the doctor and his team and together with the nurses was nothing short of first class. The actual procedure was pretty much painless and most of it my wife was unaware of such was the skill of all concerned. Our lives have been turned upside down because we are potentially facing hearing bad news on the biopsy results and as I write, we are approx one week or so away from the results. What I can say based on fact is that Basildon Hospital Cardiothoracic Centre is state of the art in terms of facilities, blessed together with the fact it has a wonderful consultant and an amazing team including the nurses who were very professional and made my wife as comfortable as possible.
For all those that knock the NHS, come and take a first hand look at the facilities and I know that you will change your minds. I'm sure that most hospitals need upgrading in facilities for patient care but Basildon invested in this wonderful thoracic centre and if this is the way that the NHS will invest in the future then we are in very safe hands. I hope no one has the need to visit such a Hospital department for health reasons but if you do, then I hope that you are referred to Basildon Hospital because this is very much the template for the future of the NHS as long as the government invest into it.
Once again, thank you so very much to all concerned and please god we get the best result news possible!
