"Treatment in A&E"

About: Stafford Hospital

Anything else?

I had reason to be taken to A&E for an allergic reaction to something I had eaten. Whilst I was treated initially by my colleagues at the hospital I work in it was felt I should attend the A&E as a precaution. I arrived and was dealt with very courteously and appropriately by the reception staff. I was triaged very professionally by a nurse and taken through to be seen by the med registrar. He did all the right things and kept me informed throughout. After some blood tests and being seen by the consultant in A&E I was discharged home with the necessary prescribed drugs. At all times my treatment was exemplary. I was treated with the utmost dignity and respect as was every one else who came into A&E that afternoon.

All the story's that are in the press need to be redressed. I know the hospital has had it's problems as I worked there for a number of years. However, they are without doubt on the right track and my experience of the afternoon of the 21st of march certainly proves this to be the case. My only observation is that the waiting area is a little shabby in its fabric and could do with a little facelift after all it is most patients first point of contact with the hospital

Response from Head of Patient Experience, Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust

Dear Mr Taylor

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. I am delighted that your experience of A&E has been so positive.

I feel very proud of the services that we provide and of our staff who work extremely hard to consistently provide high standards of care. I know that staff morale is raised by comments like yours and I would like to thank you for taking the time to write and tell me of your experience. I have passed on your thanks to Matron and we will certainly look at improving the appearance of the waiting area..

Kind Regards

Angela Grocott

Head of Patient Experience
