Anything else?
I recently spent a night on the ward, and despite being extremely fearful due to poor media reports of hospital care and the experience of friends and family in other hospitals, I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of care and particularly the attitude of the staff. I was treated with kindness and compassion by every member of staff I met - I cannot tell you what a difference it makes when you feel poorly to have somebody behave like they actually care about how you are doing, and to treat you like a human being. I was particularly struck by the night staff, and the great kindness they showed towards an elderly lady in the bed opposite me who required a lot of support during the night both because of distress and needing help to the toilet. The staff never treated her like she was a bother, and gave her dignity and respect. The staff team were always smiling, and seemed to work together well for the benefit of patients, and they spoke to myself and each other patient on the bay as if we were, at that point in time, their main concern. I really feel that there are other hospitals and wards in the country that could learn a lot from the staff team on 31 - my sincerest thanks!
