"Bad treatment of son's injury"

About: Colchester General Hospital

Anything else?

My son was hit by the wing mirror of a moving car, damage to ribs and Right arm. Referred to Colchester A n E by own clinic. Saw nurse who said it needed an X-ray but she felt the whole shoulder needed an X-ray so she wanted a doctor to look at it. He came in prodded my son's spine, said it was muscle damage and suggested pain killers and a gel. When I asked him to repeat the name of the gel he did! Syllable by syllable in a very irritated manner. Then said "ok off you go" son is still in agony and totally lopsided! Will be taking him to our local minor injuries unit for a second opinion. Really not happy with the way we were treated, will not be going back!

I was extremely sorry to read about your son's poor experience in our A&E department and have informed various colleagues here, including the A&E service manager and the Trust's medical director.

We would like to look at this in some detail. Therefore, would it be possible please to send an email to info@colchesterhospital.nhs.uk that will include a daytime phone number for you.

Many thanks.
