What I liked
My Mother was admitted on Tuesday tea time having fallen at the care home, she is 86 years old and has vascular dementia which is quite advanced. She spent a couple of hours on an ambulance trolly being looked after by the ambulance crew and at least 6 hours on a tolly in A & E. My two sisters were told that "a man with a wobbly arm" takes precedence over her due to her age. Their general treatment in A & E was very poor to put it politely.
It eventually transpired she has broken her hip and was due to be operated on yesterday, it's now 3 p.m. on Thursday and she still hasn't had her operation, we are told it might happen later today or tomorrow morning. Unfortunately this is the second time she has been in with a broken hip and hers and our experience with reference to the first visit was a disgrace and we can see it happening again. Myself and my five brothers and sisters are disgusted at the treatment of our Mum who, it appears, seems to be overlooked and left in distress, thirsy and hungry because she is 86 and younger patients take precedence.
I understand that the hospital is busy but it is no excuse - it's an absolute disgrace !
