"Loss of patient notes"

Anything else?

My dad was rushed to A&E on Saturday with kidney problems and pains at 6am and was on the list to be seen by the GP. He was not seen until 8am and only because my Mum queried the list as people arriving after my Dad were being seen. At this time my Dad was doubled over in pain. On talking to the nurse my Mum was told the notes had been misplaced after blood was taken. The GP agreed to see my Dad without the notes which can also be called up on the computer but this was not done.

Too much time was taken and my Dad was in pain because of this error and he was overlooked. My parents are nurses and that is the reason they queried the nurse. Any other person could have been sitting there in pain not knowing whats going on for a lot longer. This is unacceptable a complaint will be made. My Dad was admitted eventually after 13 hours at another hospital and is now being treated.

Very poor show.

I am really sorry that your father had such a poor experience at the trust. I hope that his treatment since then has been better. We are not clear whether you were seen in our Emergency Department or the Urgent Care Centre (which is staffed by GPs, but only opens at 8am). If you are able to get in touch with us direct this will enable us to review your father's treatment to understand what happened and improve our procedures. You can do this via our PALs department on Tel: 020 8836 4592 or Email: pals.qeht@nhs.net
