"Excellent care by nurses at Dumfries "

About: Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary / General Medicine

(as the patient),

Almost three years ago, I was admitted to ward ten for various tests. Being someone who is nervous anyway when in hospital as well as this being by first inpatient stay, the idea of staying in ward ten was terrifying.

The consultant who handled my cannula initially was hap handed and made a complete mess of it as well as not appearing to know what he was actually meant to be doing (the following consultant arrived minutes later and seemed confused that it had been put in at all when I was supposed to be demonstrating motor skills by touching my nose - something I was then unable to do until they removed the cannula.

A two night stay which would have been unpleasant for obvious reasons (aka being in hospital and being highly unwell) was made pleasant and much more calm by the night and day nurses who couldn't seem to do enough to make sure all was well. They were lovely about requests for family to remain with me and seemed to be doing everything they could to crack a joke and keep me comfortable.

By far some of the best treatment I've encountered, thank you so much to the kind staff who were utterly lovely.
