"from referral to diagnostic procedure"

About: Western General Hospital / Gastroenterology

(as the patient),

I discovered bleeding when I went to the toilet, which was very frightening. This happened a few times so I made an appointment with my GP. I was referred for a colonoscopy.

My appointment was 8 days later - amazing, especially as I was very anxious. My procedure was carried out very professionally and I was very well looked after by everyone I came into contact with at the hospital.

I was told after the colonoscopy that some polyps had been removed but they looked pretty benign. Still waiting for the pathology results but am hugely reassured by what the doctor said at the time.

I am so grateful to have such a brilliant and caring GP, and to have access to such wonderful services so quickly.

Thank you very much for your positive feedback about the service you received when you were going through for what must have been a very worrying time.

Your story is an excellent example of what people should do if they find themselves in a similar situation as the earlier this matter can be investigated the better.

I will pass on your positive comments to the teams concerned and wish you the best.
