"Early Pregnancy Unit, lack of information on possible miscarriage"

I was recently referenced to the EPU for a scan due to bleeding. I attended the unit, filled in the required form, sat and waited, and then was called for my scan. I was then sent for blood tests and told to come back in 48 hrs for more blood tests.
At no time did anyone sit down and explain to me what was going on. Explain to me what the scan showed, explain to me the symptoms I was experiencing. "It could be a sac showing on the scan, but maybe it's a cyst". When asked if I had or was having a miscarriage the response was they did not know. I would need to wait for the bloods. What were the bloods going to tell me? The EPU obviously knew, but this wasn't shared with me...the patient. Luckily I had access to the internet!
The first set of bloods were consistent with a six week pregnancy, the levels for the second set had dropped. I needed to ask what this meant... "it was consistent with a miscarriage". Had I had a miscarriage? "Probably".
At no time did anyone from the EPU enquire as to how I was, or tell me what this all meant. I had to ask....."what happens next", "the doctor will review and we may ask you to do more blood tests or a urine test, we will call".
So here I am. I'm sure I've had a miscarriage, but this has not been confirmed by the professionals supposedly 'caring' for me. Still nobody has explained anything to me.
Do I need any after care? I feel dreadful physically, I am unable to return to work. Is anyone going to get back to me? I don't know. But luckily I have the internet....I can google the symptoms, obtain advice advice from a search engine.
What a sad uncaring experience to go through. What do I think of my treatment from the EPU? Absolutely appalling.
