"Day care surgery"

I recently had gynae surgery as a day case at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital. I received a friendly greeting from the nursing staff who introduced themselves to me and told me what would be happening. Shortly after arrival, I was visited by both the surgeon and anaesthetist, both of whom were informative and happy to answer my questions. I had some concerns about the anaesthetic and these were treated with respect. My care both pre and post op was good from all members of staff. When I woke I was in significant pain and the recovery staff responded to this very quickly, trying more than one approach to relieve it. The hot air blanket was particularly soothing!

I took quite a long time to wake up and so my husband rang the ward on several occassions to inquire about picking me up. Each time, staff were able to tell him how I was and were friendly and approachable.

All areas of the ward seemed to be very clean.
