"Grandma and Grandpa have been treated with the utmost dignity and respect"

About: Burnham on Sea War Memorial Hospital

(as other),

My Grandma was admitted to Burnham Hospital as she was malnourished and dehydrated. At the age of 99 she had decided that enough was enough. Much to the distress of my Grandpa, who has been caring for her at their home for many years, Grandma had decided and had stopped eating and drinking.

After a few days on a drip and some visits from family, Grandma took a turn for the worse and was moved into a side room. Grandpa called me on Monday morning and I arrived at lunchtime. My Grandma had deterioriated significantly and didn't resemble my beautiful lovely Grandma anymore. We were advised that the Liverpool plan was being administered and after Googling it, began to get used to the idea that Grandma was going to be allowed to pass away slowly and as naturally as possible.

At times this has been difficult for us to come to terms with but on the whole, we are so very grateful for that decision was made by professional people, who we feel that we can completely trust and put our faith in to do right by her.

The nursing staff have been incredibly kind, efficient and generous particularly to my Grandpa who is insisting that he stay by Grandma's side - which we all understand but we would have struggled to keep him so well nourished and upbeat without such care and consideration from all the staff at Burnham.

We all feel that Grandma and Grandpa have been treated with the utmost dignity and respect and that these last few days of their long and happy life together have been the very best that any of us would have hoped for - thank you so much.
