"Toe Nail Surgery"

About: Solihull Hospital

(as the patient),

I had ingrown toenail surgery in October 2005 at Solihull Hospital.

Surgery was quick, efficient, and, nothing to complain about really. It was a bit of a shock really because I had no idea my GP had actually referred me, so I didn't have a chance to ask much but made sure I did.

I queried about other alternatives (to save the pain afterwards), but the doc explained all the ins and outs and assured me there would be no problems and this was the best option.

Had a few problems when I went back for review, because it turned out I needed anti biotics. They faxed the prescription through to my GP, but even after a few days, the GP said they wouldn't give me the prescription until they've had time to log and process it and "can you come back later", "no, Im still in extreme agony".

A later discussion with my GP, he said that they have an agreement that the hospital should provide the initial prescription.

I don't know.

Anyhow, apart from that little fluff, everything else was fine. Nearly 12 months down the line, and I have nice healthy nails that don't hurt. If you can get past the first few weeks of discomfort, then this is fantastic surgery for others similarly afflicted.

Cheers

Simon
