"utter incompetence"

About: James Paget University Hospital

Anything else?

received a phone call to say i would be having my operation in 7 days told to go for my pre-op on the Thursday (operation booked for Monday) was informed I would have to be treated for mrsa with the bodywash as there wasn't enough time to get my results back, apparently this is happening all the time at rather alot of cost to the nhs ( the nurse doing the preop informed me of this) went in for my operation waited for 3 hours met the anesthetist and then the surgeon, he had to go and get the records. on his return he advised me that the operation was to be cancelled as all my medical records were not appearing on the electronic system, meaning i would have to start all my clinic appointments again. 10 minutes being at home i am informed that they have now found my notes and i am rescheduled in for 2 weeks time. i would advise anybody going for an operation to make sure the hospital has everything it needs to do the op. while the nurse said she understands how i feel i do not think anybody can understand how you would feel having surgery cancelled for loss of notes. this is just utter incompetence.

would like to add my consultant/surgeon has been fantastic throughout and have no qualms with him.

We are always concerned that any of our patients have such an experience and as a Trust, we take these issues very seriously. This is now being dealt with as a complaint and will be fully investigated.
