"Sensitive Communication"

In January I was taken into hospital A&E with a suspected heart problem. This turned out to be nothing but I was kept in overnight. At the end of April I was sent a letter by the hospital stating one of the patients in the vicinity of my bed had been diagnosed with Tuberculosis, and I would be asked to attend a clinic to be screened to ensure I had not contacted it. The risk to me was minimal it was just to ensure all was ok. I rang the number given and spoke to the nurse and also to my GP, both of whom reassured me and said it was just a precaution as I had no symptoms.

On the 8 July 2008 I received what can only be called a frightening and threatening letter from the hospital

Quote: 'If you do not come to see us you could become very ill and may give the infection to friends and relatives'. 'It is essential you attend the x-ray appointment' - on Saturday 12 July 2008.

Quote. 'You need to contact the above number within 10 days of receipt of this letter' to make an appointment with the Consultant.

Quote. This letter is confidential and no information will be given to Employers, Social Security, Immigration authorities even if you are a refugee.

Quote. 'we want to make sure that anyone who may have TB is diagnosed and treated before it does them any harm.

Tell me what I did wrong to make them write such a letter to me. I feel very angry and upset, I also feel scared, a little more sensitivity would have helped. It does seem that Hospital is a very dangerous place.
