Anything else?
I went into labour at 36 weeks and 6 days so had to go to the consultant led unit. I was disappointed by this as wished for as natural birth as possible. However it was an exceptional experience in which all my wishes were met and I had a natural birth with minimal intervention. The midwives were wonderful helping me to breastfeed and I am very grateful as this put us to such a good start and we are still going strong 18 weeks later. I count my blessings that I was lucky enough to have the two wonderful midwifes that came on shift at 7am
My only negative is that the midwife on the night shift didn't believe I was in the later stage of labour and tried to offer diamorphine when I was in fact ready to push. Fortunately I had the confidence in myself and knowledge not to accept this as this would have left my baby drugged.
