"A visit to HRI following a nasty scratch from a cat .. "

About: Huddersfield Royal Infirmary / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

I visited Accident and Emergency on a Saturday evening in March, having been badly scratched by my son's Cat the day before .. this injury rapidly became infected, and the inflammation was spreading up my arm.

I was, on this Saturday, in Ripon, North Yorkshire, with other Family, and NHS Direct advised me, quite wisely, to go to the nearest hospital ASAP, but I chose to come home to HRI. The journey home only took me one hour and I then felt safe.

I cannot praise too highly the service I received from A and E at HRI .

The Gentleman Triage Nurse was efficient and reassuring, and the 'Out of Hours' Lady GP to whom I was passed was equally so ..

I was given an (entirely painless! ) anti - tetanus injection, and prescribed antibiotics, which are working well.

Waiting Time was not too bad at all ..

I must say that given the numbers of people in A and E at the time I was there (5. 45 until 8. 30pm on a Saturday), I am impressed that I was not kept waiting for much longer than I was!

Well Done! Accident and Emergency at HRI, and I hope that the individuals who dealt with me may be informed how impressed I am with their Work .

I would like to meet the people who dealt with me again, and to seek permission for them to be invited to take part in one of our Hospital Radio broadcasts, which are much appreciated by Patients of the HRI.

Many Thanks, and Best Wishes.

Many thanks for your kind words, it will be a pleasure to pass your comments on to the staff in A & E.

We cannot say how the staff involved would feel about your suggestion that they participate in your hospital radio broadcasts, if you want to follow this up, perhaps you could contact Matron Julie Dean via the hospitals switchboard, 01484 342000.

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to provide feedback
