"Some good some bad"

About: Kent & Canterbury Hospital

Anything else?

On the 3rd December I came into hospital with violent headaches and loss of vision.

I was very quickly seen by a doctor who referred me to a stroke specialist who saw me in minutes. I was very impressed with that.

When i was informed it was not a stroke I was transferred to the minor injury unit. I was left with a lady she did not introduce her self. As I could not see her it would of been nice for someone to talk to me as my vision was blurred. That lady tried 4 times to take blood extremely painful, and joking that my veins were very tricky. She had a very careless attitude. I was then taken to the eye department. She then had to put drops in my eyes. My eyes were burning, she said it was meant to do that. I then heard her say she had put the wrong drops in her eyes. I then was given some more drops. I told the consultant a few hours later, she came and told me I have a GCA and is serious and will need a biopsy. She advised she would come back later but never came back. I was transferred to a ward where the nurses on the ward were fantastic. Surgeon advised need biopsy and advised I could go back home in 2 hours. I wished for pre-med and by the time i was ready to go down i was not wanting to go for treatment as i could not face it with out a premed,so i discharged my self. I did not get any notes of who I saw. I am now wishing to get information I have been told it would cost £50.

My GP asked for results, but only got the results of the blood tests.

Hospital clean spotless, food fantastic and people bringing food very caring. The care you receive depends on the day and time you go. Administration side of hospital is a shamble. The details were not passed on to the other hospital.
