"Timely and effective care - thank you"

About: St George's Hospital (Tooting) (London)

Anything else?

I attended the Urgent Care Centre - ironically the bit of A&E that deals with non-urgent care - which incorporates the services previously provided by the walk in centre.

Having failed to be able to get a GP appointment, I attended at 9am on a weekday (i.e. a quiet time) and was treated quickly (c.30 min wait) and effectively.

The building was clean and well signed and the staff were polite and helpful. The attending doctor was very personable and sought a second opinion from colleagues before sending me on my way.

The only slightly odd thing (and a very minor point) is that when you walk in, you have to stop in the middle of an empty entrance hall about 10 feet from the reception desk (which you mustn't approach!) and wait for a nurse to turn up and assess you. You end up standing in the middle of nowhere trying to make eye contact with a receptionist whose job clearly doesn't involve acknowleding you...
