"Lumber puncher"

About: Royal Lancaster Infirmary

Anything else?

I needed a lumber puncher because I get to much fluid on my brain, there was 2 doctors that did the lumber puncher, I asked if they had do it before they both said yes and they did the lumber puncher 8 times in the wrong place in my back and hit neves, I jumped off the bed and ask for someone else to do it as the clearly did not no what they was doing ! So I had to sit and wait for a Anaesthetist to come she told them they had gone in my back about an inch to far down and cm to side of we're they should of done it !

I went home in pain could not get out of bed for 4 days my mother-in-law come round seen the mess I was in and got me into a&e were they put me on the ward that had done the lumber puncher. The nurse were not nice I could not stand light and noise but yet I was put on a ward with the brights lights from 7am to 12am and I did not get offered any food in the morning they would not give me painkiller so I had to take my own !

I had a shower and knocked my dip out so the blood was pouring everywhere I rang buzzer no one come so I opened the bathroom door naked they was a nurse 3 ft aways from me and I was shouting her and she just turned her back on me ! A different nurse came in and told me off for not being in be ! She plugged the dip back in and walked out I clean the blood up my self as she look disgusted with me for bleeding ! I'm never going there again !

The Trust would like to apologise to you, as you clearly haven't had the service you hoped for, and would like to thank you for taking the time and trouble to comment. We are very saddened and concerned that your experience at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary failed your reasonable expectations in so many ways, and we would like to make sure that we can bring this to the attention of those responsible for your care, not least because we would not want others to have a similar experience. If we are to investigate this episode thoroughly, we can only do so if we have more details. For this reason we hope that you will feel able to contact our Customer care Service (if you have not already done so) on 01539 795 497
