First attended this course in 1984. I was back then a patient being passed pillar to post, from local hospitals to London Teaching hospitals and sufferung extreme pain and looking at a black future of no prospects.

Bluntly without this hospital and it's brilliant expertise I would not be still mobile today. It's not just the medical/physical aspect that is dealt with here in the hospital but the whole person. Life with A.S is tough and the support is essential. Uncertainty in our NHS is making suffering with our illness even tougher but this hospital wont let you down.

The A/S course has rightly evolved over the year but is a lifeline for many A/S patients whether recently diagnosed or long term old hands.

It's all about a partnership where patients have to take responsibilty for managing their illness and not expecting a hospital to wave a magic wand or subscribe the instant cure.

This hospital is for many that light at the end of a dark tunnel and may it long shine bright and give long term sufferers hope when in the past there has been only been a flickering candle.

If you have A/S and are struggling at present,.. get yourself to this hospital! It might be a hard to get through the new obstacles of our "improved" NHS but the fight to get yourself on this course will have been worth it. Don't underestimate what can be achieved by getting yourself on this course. Life changing? Definitely!
