"Poor Welfare of a patient in 6 West and Riverside"

About: Charing Cross Hospital

Anything else?

I was subjected to poor communication, coordination between nurses and doctors which led to my neurologist requesting I stay overnight if I was still in pain.

Evening staff agreeing to keep me overnight only for a night doctor to come wake me from my sleep at 10pm after my relatives (who live 1hr away) have left to ask if I have headache, shaking me, even though I have a lumbar wound and low intracranial pressure. (When asleep or lying down you dont have headaches only upon raising and moving head) as I said no she went ahead to proceed to discharge me whilst I was disorientated and not fully concious.

Had I been taken down for my ctv at then time I had meant to, then not missed my time in theatre because of the nurses, then not had to wait for an in call radiologist for another scan I would not have needed the bed that was so precious to that doctor that night.

I was so dizzy and my head was in so much pain when I sat up that I stayed in till the morning but had she discharged me at night, I live in surrey, I didnt feel safe getting into transport that late at night on my own with a puncture wound. How is it even legal to do that?

It wasnt my fault I was kept hungry all day because no nurse knew if I could eat or whether I was nil by mouth, it wasnt my fault they didnt get me through my procedures through the day on time, it wasnt my fault my final ctv only completed painfuly by 7.30pm. I hadnt even rested 1.5 hrs after my Lumbar Puncture. I know these are normally day procedures, this was my 11th.

But discharging someone that late, half asleep on medication, is putting them at risk. Please ask your doctors to think. As your doctors did not even ask which medication I was on.

Only positive, my neurosurgeon is fantastic and the only person worried and thinking about my welfare.
