My elderly father has been in and out of Queens hospital four times since Nov 2012 with pheumonia. Each time Drs, consultants and even a Director of Medical care has discharged him on 31 Dec 2012 telling us that my Dad would be better at home as there will no staff as it is New Years Eve and the wards will be very quiet. So home we go NYE knowing my elderly father wasn't well enough. 7 Jan 2012, had to call emergency Dr as my father was unable to walk, had swill end ankles and unable to breathe properly. His own GP Dr visted him at home and was absolutely shocked on how he looked and how the hospital had discharged him knowing he was still poorly. His words were, " What have they done to you? My fathers own Dr was upset with what he saw as he has seen my father many a times, but nothing like this. Before being admitted to Queens, my father was able to walk unaided, get on a bus to the post office to collect his pension, go to bingo. Now due to the so called drs and consultants, prescribing him with strong medication, they have totally ruined my fathers quality of life. On three occasions despite it being on his medical hospital notes that he is allergic to codeine, he was still given it, resulting in servere vomiting and being extremely poorly on top of pheumonia. My father is now back in this dreaded hospital with pheumonia.. Why? Cos he was discharged with it still. We are talking about a 93 year old man. When we were in A&E on Friday 1 March 2013, I told the Dr that Dad was allergic to codeine and under no circumstances is he to have it. Her reply was, he may be given it by mistake, how on earth can he be given it by mistake, when it's on his notes!!! As a very caring daughter I have no faith in the medics at this hospital. Also they are quick enough to take swabs for MRSA when you are admitted, but when I asked the question will Dad be checked for any bugs, I was told no we don't check when patients are discharged. Moral of the story, they don'T want you coming in with anything, but don'T give a dam what you go out with! Detest this hospital with a passion.
