"MRI scanning department"

About: Watford General Hospital

Anything else?

I had an MRI today at WGH and wanted to thank the wonderful staff in the department for the care I experienced.

I have previously been scanned at Hemel Hempstead and the staff there are also wonderful but at my last appointment I had a panic attack while getting in the scanner and was unable to remain calm enough to endure the scan.

So I arrived at the department for an emergency scan that I was unable to be sedated for. The staff member who was looking after me took the time to listen to what had gone wrong at the previous scan and suggested ways to make me feel more comfortable. This really helped to quell the anxious feelings that had begun to rise. I emerged 25 minutes later having had a relatively relaxed and comfortable scan.

The MRI team were fantastic with me and my parents today as they were anxiously waiting outside for me. One of the male radiographers took the time to reassure them that I was doing well and would be out in a couple of minutes as we went out for a break.

Thank you so much for the tremendous work you do and care you provide.
