My Mother had her knee replaced whilst on Hilton Main ward Cannock hospital. After the op. she developed complications and was taken to the A and E dept at Stafford hospital. She was transferred to the Critical Care Unit over night. The care and compassion that she and myself received in these departments was exemplary. We were kept informed of my mother's conditon at all times either by phone or in the units. by very helpful and supportive nurses and doctors.
My mother was transferred back to Cannock to the Post Anaesthetic Unit where she was monitored closely for 3 days. Thanks to the superb care given by ALL the staff, my Mum's condition continued to improve.
The treatment in Hilton Ward was first class. We met some really dedicated and caring nurses and doctors.
All wards and departments were spotless. Hilton Ward in particular is beautifully clean and airy. This was my Mum's 3rd stay and she loves it there.
I would add that I am a retired S. R. N (1970) and have worked in the N. H S since I was 18. I am always watching and listening when I come into hospitals, particulalry when my family are invloved, and I have seen and heard of some very bad examples of nursing care. There have been times when I have felt ashamed and frustrated to have been associated with the profession. However, in this case, I have nothing but good to say about every aspect of care in all departments. Thank you to everyone.
"Excellent care Stafford/Hilton Main Cannock"
