"Really is great!"

Anything else?

In light of the recently released Francis report in a climate where everyone is focussing on what hospitals are doing wrong I felt I had to write about the amazing experience I have had at the Great North Children's Hospital.

My daughter has a chronic kidney condition which means regular visits to hospital for us and, once in a while, an emergency trip. We are constantly greeted by friendly faces in an immaculate environment which is appealing to the children. There are toys a plenty and staff on hand to occupy the children while they wait to be seen.

We have never encountered a delay in being seen and every member of staff we have encountered has treated us with the utmost respect. Staff do their best to make the visit stress-free for parents and children alike.

I feel so fortunate to have this amazing facility right on my doorstep and with to extend my eternal gratitude to all those who have made this hospital what it is.

Response from Great North Children's Hospital

Thank you so very much for your comments regarding the treatment of your daughter at the Great North Children’s Hospital, Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle. We have passed  these onto the staff for it is always most rewarding and motivating to hear such positive experiences.  We pride ourselves on trying our utmost to put the care of children and young people at the heart of what we do, and we much appreciate you taking the time to let us know how we are doing in this respect.  You rightly point out the importance of staff being as friendly and caring as possible which is so important in delivering patient care.
