I was admitted last August after a very sudden diagnosis of acute myeloid leukaemia, I cannot thank and praise the staff on B28 enough for all the care they showed me in the months that I spent of this ward. Although primarily a blood cancer ward the staff were always cheery and pleasant and I am sure their job must have been very difficult and demanding at times. I am only glad that I didn't get the bill for my stay, and so thankful for the NHS.

The nurses and doctors on this ward helped me get through this awful time in my life, they made time for me even though at time they were rushed off their feet and popped in just to check I was ok. I will never forget the kindness shown to me and the support given. A special thank-you to the person who on first meeting advised me to bring soft loo roll and personal possessions to make my stay more manageable, my room became a home from home and her words made the whole experience so much more bearable. I would like to name every nurse and thank them personally but special thanks to my specialist nurse, who helped me laugh my way through my cancer and the doctor who humoured me by being interested in my latest research and looked after me so well and got me through the small complications that I gave to him.

My family and I will always be eternally grateful to you all at Sunderland Royal. God bless every one of you. x
