Lack of communication within departments
In this age of high tech-pls can someone explain---
GP rings PRH at 4.10pm requesting an emergency bed for my husband,
she explains his condition and why she wants him admitted. She writes a letter and gives us his medical notes.
We go home pack a bag and wait. at 6.30pm. I receive a phone call asking me to take my husband to the Acute Medical Ward at 8.00pm, which I do.
On arrival, with a very sick man, I am told there are 'no beds', sent to A & E and not admitted until 1am-in the plaster room of the hospital.
5 anxious hours! Left without water or even a comfy chair to sit on.
To make matters worse-on the 29 December my husband spent 5 hours in A & E at PRH having tests -to be told he had constipation and to buy a good laxative!!!
He has now been diagnosed with bowel and liver cancer.
"Lack of communication."
