Me. I was booked in for a c-section. Colchester General were fully aware of my medical history and issues during my pregnancy. Yet they chose to ignore it, which resulted in me flat-lining just before they were due to start the C-section. When I came round, they decided to deliver my son, in less than 4 minutes, which also resulted in my new born baby becoming sick and needing medical help. We were told that we could leave Hospital the next day.
My son was badly burnt in a childish yet dangerous act. I took him to A&E where he was sat there for over 4 hours. A doctor spoke to the burns unit who advise them what action to take. He was in Colchester General for 3 days. They left the same dressings on that were put on him when he arrived in A&E and as far as I know never once checked his burns.
Luckily he was moved to the burns unit at Broomfield. Because of the apprent lack of care from Colchester, it seems my son had to go through hours of pain while the team at the burns unit had to scrape of all the dead and infected skin on his face. Now for the next 2 years he has to have all sorts of creams and such. I believe if Colchester had followed what they were told then he wouldn't have any scarring. Also even after being told how it had happened, they still continued to write a report the way they thought it happened.
"Me and my son."
