"Phototherapy day treatment"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital

Anything else?

First - the car parking is dreadful and expensive - you have to judge how long you will be and then pay before rather than paying after appointment - some moronic bureaucrat decided that - clearly incapable of thought!

The Dermatology day treatment is very good - at first visit you maybe slightly worried by the laid back atmosphere - but do not confuse laid back with unfriendly or unhelpful the staff are excellent - helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. The treatments are on time (on one visit of 30 I was treated late - about 40 minutes late for explained and understandable reasons - 1 of 30 is about 3% so pretty good).

On your first visit a nurse will show you where all the facilities are and explain your responsibilities (nothing difficult - getting yourself changed, getting towel(s) and protective specs and clearing up after yourself!) and on subsequent visits they leave you to it .

The only reservations I have is with the length of wait before I got the treatment and indeed the initial Consultant appointment which was several months in both cases thus giving even more time for the skin complaint to develop - but that's about politicians and nothing to do with this excellent department - and I have to recognise that people with life-threatening skin problems are rightfully on a fast track! I still blame the politicians!

Thank you for taking the time to offer us your feedback.

I will ensure your comment relating to car parking charges is passed to the relevant manager. We have two car parks for patients and vistiors which offers users the option of paying for their parking before or after their appointment or visit. Car park one, which is located at the hospital front entrance, is a pay on foot system i.e. you collect a ticket when entering the car park via a barrier system, when leaving the hospital you place your ticket in one of the pay machines where you will be informed of the amount of money that you need to pay for your stay. Car park two is a pay and display machine i.e. you pay for your ticket first and display in your car during your stay. We feel that by offering both options it is a fairer system for all users.

I was pleased to read that you found the dermatology department very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.

The staff will be made aware of your feedback so that we can continue with providing an excellent patient experience.
