I have regular frequent appointments at two clinics both held in the Fanthorpe building. Whilst I have complete satisfaction with the care and consideration given to me by the doctors involved in my care, I have huge concerns over the cleanliness of the surroundings,in particular the carpeted waiting area used for renal appointments which can only be described as utterly filthy.We all know that there are constraints on spending. however that cannot be a valid excuse for subjecting patients to these conditions,it surely wouldn't break the bank to remove the carpet and replace it with some vinyl floor covering, it would then at least be able to be cleaned.Following this I would suggest someone takes a good look at the whole of this part of the building and instigates a complete clean up because at the moment it is degrading , unsanitary and demoralising to both staff and patients.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comment here – we are aware that some parts of our buildings on the hospital site are old and in need of work

In the short-term we are looking at all areas and seeing what we can do quickly to refurbish some of the older parts in a rolling programme and are asking the cleaning team to pay special attention to the floor in this area.

In the long-term the re-opening of Purley hospital this summer will allow us to start moving out-patient clinics out of the poorer environment areas and re allocate them to better quality clinic areas for these appointments.
