"Very helpful and friendly A&E doctor and staff"

About: University College Hospital

Anything else?

I just visited the A&E Dept. at UCH and had the best experience I've ever had in an A&E.

The woman at reception who took my details and checked me in was efficient, friendly, and instantly put me at ease. Her sense of humour was a pleasant surprise in what you'd expect to be a grim place.

Waiting didn't take long. I believe they were sending people with less dangerous maladies (sprained ankle, hurt finger, etc.) to an urgent treatment centre across the hall so they could see the people with more possibly serious complaints (mine was a head injury) quicker in A&E. I can't speak for those who went to Urgent Treatment, but it resulted in a much shorter wait time.

I was seen by a doctor for assessment. I found him to be extremely helpful, kind, considerate, and gentle. It seemed he genuinely cared about my wellbeing and was a very good listener as I described my problem. He made me feel very comfortable and thoroughly explained his diagnosis and answered all my questions patiently. I wish he could be my GP!

Overall, I was in and out in less than 40 minutes. It was as good an experience as going to A&E can be!
