We see a consultant every year or so for our son who has a limb deficiency. The consultant is very friendly, pleasant, open and down to earth and I feel we can ask her anything, no matter how trivial it seems. She is also excellent with young children.
The only gripe I have is that there are often other people in the consultation room (students, nurses etc) and my husband, son and I are never introduced to them, despite the fact that they might ask questions or contribute to the consultation.
It's a personal experience, it can sometimes be an anxious experience, and I think the whole thing would be much improved by the consultant taking a minute or two to introduce the other participants and tell us why they are there.
