"i will not recommend this hospital"

About: Heartlands Hospital

Anything else?

I went to the hospital for my self, i had swallowed somethin which got stuck into my wind pipe, I was having really bad chest pains and abit of difficulty in breathing. I went at 12am was seen by the nurse, who asked me what had happened, then she told me to go back to the waiting room and wait for the doctor to call me. On the screen the waiting time was 2 hours, i thought of having a drink; i had 7up and after abit i felt alit better with my pain. I waited til 2:30am and went to reception to ask how long til my turn coz there were only 2people before me and they had gone, i was told it shudnt be that long now. So i waited again til 3am it was now 3hours since i had been there. I went to ask st reception again and was told to go and ask one of the nurses, i was told by the nurse i waz next. I waited another 20 minutes no one came i was sooo angery because i had left my sister with my kids she had to go home aswel and i had to get up early in the morning for school. I told the reaception guy the reason and came home. tottally dispointed. Something similar happened to my husband before...i thought that might be a one off but again?

Dear Anonymous

I am sorry you had such an extraordinarily long wait in A&E and completely appreciate both how frustrating and, also, worrying this must have been for you. There have been a number of exceptionally busy nights in A&E which have not been easy. However, staff should have kept you informed and, indeed, apologised for the delay you experienced. Your experience has been fed back to the A&E team to remind them to keep patients and their relatives informed at all times.

If you would like to discuss any aspect of your care with us then please do contact our Patient Services department on 0121 4240808 where a member of the team will be more than happy to assist.

Regards

Catherine Williams
