"Day Care Surgery for Carpal Tunnel Release"

About: Torbay Hospital

Anything else?

In November 2012, I had surgery for carpal tunnel relase. It was a brilliant service. All the staff were reassuring, respectfull and cheerful! The consultant operated on my hand. She spent time before surgery explaining the process and post care of the wound. The surgery was quick and painless.

My hand is so much better and the scar is almost invisible -only 7 weeks post surgery. The pain in my hand and elbow have now gone, as have the pins and needles at night. I am back at work, feeling so positive. I have regained my independance!!!

My other hand will require the same surgery with in the next few months and I look forward to getting it done and being pain free.

Thank you, Jan Wickens

Response from Torbay Hospital

Dear Ms Wickens

We were really pleased to hear about your successful surgery and the difference it has made to your life. It was very encouraging to hear not only about the physical care, but also that the procedure itself and the after care was explained so well to you. It is most important for patients to be be kept informed about their treatment and it helps to promote confidence. We wish you all the best for the treatment of your other hand.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience.
